Our Mission: The UIT Training and Documentation Department consistently strives to offer informative, enjoyable, and innovative technical training to members of the Tufts community so that our customers may work and learn in better ways.

Join us for one of our 100 regularly scheduled sessions or let our experienced training staff design a customized curriculum for your department. We welcome Central Administration employees as well as all other Tufts faculty and staff on a space available basis.

The New Year is almost here. What are your resolutions? With a fresh start, maybe you're thinking about pursuing an interest, hobby or taking a class. Let us help you get your momentum started. This month, we're starting with essentials for office productivity including network file storage, using your calendar, and a hands-on workshop introducing you to the basics of Mac OS X.

Classroom-Based Courses
Mind Your P's and Q's
Knowing the answer to a question such as, "Are my important files safe, secure, and restorable?" can bring us peace of mind. Learn when it is most appropriate to store a document on your P, Q, or C drive, who has access to each drive, and the steps you can take to restore a deleted file from your P drive using a tool called Snapshot. Besides focusing on the benefits of using the Tufts network, tips and tricks from the Microsoft world will also be presented.

Getting The Most From Your Outlook Calendar
This class will prepare you to use your Outlook calendar to its potential. We'll cover the creation and management of appointments, events, and meetings. We'll also explore details such as adding recurring meetings, using reminders, and placing messages into categories. We'll examine various calendar customization options as well as calendaring sharing and how to create a group calendar. There will be ample time for tip sharing and questions.

Introduction to Mac OS X
If you attended the webinar we offered back in September, you may be ready for a hands-on experience. This workshop will highlight some of the major differences between Mac OS X and Windows and help you get started using a Mac. From working on the desktop to surfing the Internet, you'll learn how to complete essential tasks like checking email and using a calendar. This workshop will also include quick introductions to common applications such as iPhoto, GarageBand, and iMovie.
